On 27 June 2025, Washington Freedom played a sense and all-round match to beat Los Angeles Knight Riders by 5 wickets at the Grand Prairie Stadium. They showed a textbook pursuit: bossy powerplay, tight bowling and cool close-out. Mitchell Owen was the scoring lad in both the innings, who thoroughly deserved Player of the Match trophy. This was because in fielding LAKR played loose and could not capture the run when they had an opportunity especially with Fletcher at the end of their innings.
This game did not only prolong WAFs superiority, it showed their depth and tactical strength, putting everybody in the rest of the MLC on notice. LAKR on the other hand is left wondering if they can mend casualness in the fielding department, create unions and strike when it counts..Their campaign will be determined by the next few matches.
