Asia Cup 2025: Official Confirmation
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) under the presidency of Mohsin Naqvi on July 26-27, 2025 formally announced that the 2025 Men Asia Cup would take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) between September 9 and 28
Although India retains the hosting rights, matches will be held in UAE stadiums with the primary venues in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, according to a previous bilateral venue agreement between BCCI and PCB
This edition is a major expansion as there are eight Participating teams as compared to six in the last editions making it the biggest ever Asia Cup.
Participating Teams and Format:
The tournament has the five ACC full members, namely India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan as well as three qualifiers of the 2024 ACC Premier Cup, namely the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Hong Kong.
- Group A : India, Pakistan, UAE, Oman.
- Group B: Sri Lanka, Banglades, Afghanistan, Hong Kong.
- Sept 9: Afghanistan vs Hong Kong (opener of the tournament)
- Sept 10: UAE v India
- Sept 11: Bangladesh vs Hong Kong
- Sept 12: Pak v Oman
- Sept 13: BAN v SL
- Sept 14: India-Pakistan (match of the day)
- Sept 15: UAE vs Oman & Sri Lanka vs Hong Kong (double-header)
- Sept 16: Bangladesh and Afghanistan
- Sept 17: Pakistan vs UAE
- Sept 18: Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan
- Sept 19: Ind vs Oman
- Sept 20: B1 Vs B2
- Sept 21: A1 (e.g. India) vs A2 (e.g. Pakistan)
- Sept 23-26: The remaining matches between the four Super 4 qualifiers
- Sept 28: Decider, the champion of the Asia Cup
- Commercial Impact: India-Pakistan game is the most viewed game in the history of cricket; there are several possible India-Pakistan encounters (group, Super 4, final) which significantly multiplies the media rights and sponsorship revenue.
- Neutral Hosting Logic: India is the official host, but all the matches in UAE are in accordance with the venue-neutrality deal, which is intended to reduce bilateral tensions, but nevertheless award India the administrative hosting rights.
